Move to new headquarters: Rocket Tower Berlin will be unveiled in 2016

01 APRIL 2015
Berlin, Germany, 1 April 2015 – Rocket Internet SE (“Rocket“, ISIN DE000A12UKK6, RKET) today announced to move to new headquarters located in Berlin’s city centre. The company will relocate its headquarters to the GSW building in Charlottenstraße 4 in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district with a view to the former Checkpoint Charlie. Named the “Rocket Tower”, Europe’s largest start-up campus will emerge in two interconnected buildings. The construction is expected to host office space amounting to 22,000 square metres for employees in all departments as well as companies from Rocket’s global network. The move into the Rocket Tower will begin early next year with extensive renovations and is slated to be completed at the end of 2016.

After having operated from its current headquarters in Johannisstraße 20 in Berlin’s Mitte district, the new campus site shall bundle all corporate functions, responding to the fast-growing number of employees. Furthermore, the Rocket Tower shall strengthen interdisciplinary teamwork and create a vibrant environment for the sharing of knowledge and experience.

Alexander Kudlich, member of Rocket Internet SE’s management board and responsible for the Berlin office, said, ‘The Rocket Tower offers new possibilities to benefit even better from Rocket’s potential. We do not only bring together many of our companies with our central platform teams but also the companies themselves. The new office allows the new start-ups nearby to grow and especially for us, to learn efficiently and effectively from oneanother to improve every day.’

The Rocket Tower site consists of the landmark “Hochhausscheibe” building in the East and the Western-oriented “Punkthochhaus”, both situated on the former Ullstein complex in Berlin’s old newspaper quarter. The main building located in the East is 81.5 metres high and was designed and built by Sauerbruch Hutton architects until its completion in 1999. Its distinct, Berlin-known architecture of characteristic coloured slats was awarded several awards such as the Bauphysikpreis, the Deutsche Fassadenpreis as well as the Architekturpreis.

Further details to the move and the interior design will be released in the near future.
